The Unfinished

Hide Me Among the Graves by Tim Powers: I just couldn't get into this one. I read about half (270 pages), but it just seemed boring. The vampire/ghost characters are so vague I was never sure what exactly their influence was. The characters rambled on about poetry and evil. Nothing good was happening and the way the story was going, I couldn't see that it ever would.

The Shack by William P. Young: Started off interesting, but got really preachy, heavy, and boring. I couldn't finish it.

The Cookbook Collector by Allegra Goodman: It was sort of interesting, but the story started dragging and I found I really didn't care about the characters. Couldn't finish it either

Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah: Can anyone say DEPRESSING! I'd like to avoid anti-depressents, thanks.

Couldn't wait to take it back to the Library, unfinished.

Spirit Lens by Carol Berg: I thought I would try a straight up Fantasy novel, but I just couldn't finish it. It was too much work keeping all the characters straight and all the complicated plot weavings for a book I only found vagely interesting. I guess I couldn't relate to the characters.

Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America by Douglas Brinkley: The volume of this one did me in. I am at page 410 out of 817. I will be picking this one up again at some point. It is interesting and very readable.
